Back to Reality

I'm back from my San Diego adventure. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband to hold down the fort while I am away. He did a great job - the homework all got done, the family went camping, and DH even did some laundry;-) All-in-all a successful week!

I traveled to San Diego for business. I was fortunate to be able to have some free-time between commitments, though, and it was nice to relax a bit. I hadn't realized how much I needed the break until I found out worrying during my free time about what time I should be where, even though I had no schedule. I'm just so unused to not having to be someplace or doing something all the time. I stayed in a great hotel on the marina, in a 24th floor room with a balcony and a view of the marina. I know, rough, huh?

One of the days I was able to go out to the zoo for the day. San Diego has a great zoo, and the kids were thrilled that I was able to get pictures of the pandas. I will post some pics here (once I figure out how to do that).

The day after I returned, we left for a regional retreat of families affected by FASD. What a blessing to enjoy the support and understanding of others who are walking the same path! It's also great to see our children being accepted for all their foibles, without having to explain their life stories to everyone we meet.

The first evening, we were treated to an excellent performance by a magician/juggler. It was hilarious! My husband was selected to help with one portion, which made my day... no, my week. I had left my camera in the car, but fortunately, Linda immortalized the occasion for me. I can't wait to share these pictures with family and friends.

We had excellent weather, delicious food (I love not having to cook), and the kids had a blast. Yesterday, it was back to work, homework, and a huge pile of laundry, but I feel ready to take it on again after a lovely break.

I promise to send you all of the photos I have soon. Things have gotten a little out of hand here. It was great meeting you in person-your whole family!
