How Do They Do That?

Tonight we all worked together in the basement to sort old toys for donation. I'm proud of the kids, because they were fine with giving away their old toys - DD especially let go of a lot of her "little girl" items, like baby dolls, Barbies, and Polly Pockets. We kept a few items for future foster placements, but ended up with 3 very large boxes for donation.

So there I was tonight after the kids had headed to bed, pairing up items and packaging them for donation - matching this outfit with that doll, these accessories with that play set. Anyway, I got to the Barbie kitchen set and started to tape the components together, when I discovered a mess in the kitchen "sink." Brown, spattered goo dried all over everything. I mean, it looked like throw up, smelled like throw up (yech!), and was a pain in the neck to clean. If I didn't know better, I'd think that Barbie went on a little bender with Ken and couldn't get to the toilet in time, so she tossed her cookies in the sink instead. Gross!

So, how did she do it? I mean, if one of the kids had thrown up all over something, I would have known about it - they don't miss a chance to get their share of sympathy. The cat hasn't been allowed down there for several years. I can't think of any food that would look like that (and splatter like that). I'm baffled.

And now I'm very tired and heading to bed. Good thing this is only a 2-day week for me!
