Our Growing Family

Made ya look!

OK, I admit that was a bit of a cheap shot... but our family really is growing. For her birthday earlier this month, we let DD pick out a hamster yesterday. Our newest family member is named Pumpkin, because of her orange fur, and because she joined us on Halloween. I have to admit, she's a cute little thing. And I'm amazed at how much food she can cram in her little cheeks. Almost as much as DS!

DD has strict instructions about making sure the cage door is closed at all times, not letting Pumpkin chew on the carpet, clothing, etc., not playing with her in the middle of the night. This afternoon DD had Pumpkin at the kitchen table with her in a hamster ball, while she did her homework (DD, not the hamster). I was worried that it would be too much of a distraction, but DD actually seemed to focus better than usual. Maybe having the hamster there kept her from wanting to run upstairs all the time to check on the cage in her room. We'll see whether that continues to hold in the future.

Pumpkin joins our other furry housemates: Cinder, the cat, and Cocoa, DS's guinea pig.

As well as the "grumpy old lady" of our furry family, Galena (normally referred to as "Fuzzy Butt").

I think we now have reached our full pet capacity in this house. They're a pretty cute crew, though, and it looks like Pumpkin will be a fun addition.

Hmmm, I have been after The Husband for another cat but he says I have to clean the litterboxes if we get another one. Jerk. (JK) Love things that are cute and furry and don't talk back!
