My Sweet Men!

Look at what I get to enjoy on my mantle! (ignore the paint splotch on the right -we're picking out a new living room color.
Today I came home from work (DH had left a few minutes before), and found the white roses and the candle stand in the center, along with a card for Valentine's Day! Aren't they beautiful? I had admired the candle stand over the weekend when we saw it on sale someplace, so DH snuck back and bought it for me. And the white roses are gorgeous!
I was pretty surprised actually, because earlier in the week, DH had approached me with, "I don't have to get you flowers for Valentine's Day, do I?" I've been giving him cr*p about that... it's not that I need the flowers, but when you put it that way.... I told him he could have been a bit more diplomatic, something like, "You know, with our cruise coming up, much as I love buying you flowers, I was thinking maybe we should forego it this year." So he redeemed himself and then some with this wonderfully thoughtful gesture... isn't he sweet!
Then, this evening DD was at a classmate's house, watching a movie for school, so DS and I went shopping at Sam's. You see, we have this problem where as soon as DS builds up a little balance in his savings (and he's our saver), he immediately wants to spend it on something for us (dinner, gifts, etc.) (I know, we suffer so...) We've told him that he doesn't need to get us anything, to save his money, and we'll let him buy dinner when he gets his first job. So anyway, as we entered the store, DS was looking first at the jewelry when we passed (out of his price range), then at the watches (DH won't wear a watch, I've tried to get him to, but no go), then at the perfume. He asked me if I wore perfume, and I said sorry, no. Then he saw the cell phones, and said, "I know, I can get you a new cell phone." But I already have one, and I explained that though the phone was $20, you had to sign up for a plan to get one, and I didn't thing they'd take his application.
He was pretty bummed - he wanted to buy me something. Then he saw the flowers, and insisted he had to buy me the beautiful pink gerbera daisies. I tried to talk him out of it, but finally I decided that he wasn't going to let me continue shopping until I let him buy them.
I have some amazing men in my life ;-)
But DH did get one thing wrong. He gave me one of those cards that plays a song in it, in this case, "Blessed," by Martina McBride. One of the lines is, "I have been blessed, with so much more than I deserve."
But DH got that all turned around. I'm the one who's been blessed!
